21st of March

In Scotland it’s rude not to spend a little time skelping golf balls around. Looking north from up behind Scone.

I’ve been up at the driving range. Not so much a good walk spoiled as a good walk not even taken.

Balhousie Castle home of the legendary Black Watch.

Finally got my older Taylor set up for playing in standard tuning. It’s the one on the left.

March the 16th

by on Friday, March 16th, 2012

Another day at the office….

The first March Brown of the season. A big juicy mayfly not usually seen hatching in central Scotland until April. It shows how very early a spring we are having ( grammar feels not right). It’s presence is a sign of  very clean water. When they appear in numbers the trout go wild…

The Glorious 15th of March

by on Thursday, March 15th, 2012

After many long months the brown trout season has finally started.

After a short while a few mayflies start hatching and the fish take interest. I started casting with a large dark olive. Soon had a nice little bend on the rod…

A very scrappy little blighter, they use the strong current.

They are usually a bit thin this early in the season, but fatten up quickly with the sushi boat stream of tasty flies that begin to drift downstream and hatchout on the surface.
This one was carefully returned as an offering to the Tay river goddess.

The second one got eaten for tea with wild garlic… Happy days…..

The River Tay is a good place for gathering wild plums. This is the tell tale blossom.

And here…..

Bird or squirrel?  This topiary on the road to Coupar Angus was causing big Malcolm family disagreements until Susie stopped and asked the owner…

The sun was trying to break through today.

Daffs are looking splendid. Shame about my belly in the foreground…

This looks like a Wind in the Willows address.
