Happy New Year folks, hope you all had a great time over Xmas and NY. I was playing at a swanky bash at the Hilton upstream of Dunkeld. Susie and the kids were with me so it was a great family affair. I sang songs between the dance sets, with the band joining in. My Taylor guitar is parked on the left. Leading the band was the great fiddler Pete Clark. The wonderful session after the dancing went on until five am…..A perfect start to the musical year!

Happy End of the World Day!. ‘Mayan you be all be merry and bright’…(see White Christmas)..Meteor hasn’t struck quite yet but at least the River Tay is at it’s highest all year as if in anticipation… Oh and happy birthday Dad!
And the nights are no longer drawing in….and the Xmas hols have begun…

Sandy was singing at the end of term school service but we were not allowed to take any photographs of the kids… so here’s a window in the church instead…Hope I’m still allowed to take pictures of stained glass children…

Been fishing, captions to follow….
Outside temperature today was a giddy 6 deg celcius. It has kyboshed the skiing so it’s back to the river where it is pleasantly mild, windless and dull.Ideal winter grayling conditions…

Early Xmas present to self was a new reel… a centerpin which is very tricksy to use, tangles and utter birdnests are never far away…

But the angling Gods are smiling on me for the first time after a few blanks and disasters….

Jimski Malcovich hooking a very silver 4lb out of season sea trout that was put straight back…

As was this pretty brown trout… and no grayling… they shoal up at this time of year and I never found them! maybe next time.

The snow has all gone and it looks from the forecast as if it’s not going to be a white Xmas here, which is more usual. This is up Kinnoull Hill behind Perth, called the Wigwam…

Top of Kinnoull Hill. Sandy has had a much needed haircut…and keeps pulling faces..

The classic view from Kinnoull Hill looking over the River Tay towards Fife.

Celebrated happy twelves day yesterday by sloping off to the slopes. Got in on a special deal where if twelve of you pitched up you got a ticket for twelve pounds each, so folks were grouping up outside…

This is Cairngorm Mountain, as my nearest resort – Glenshee has not had enough snow yet..

My trusty rather rusty board. Took up boarding three years ago – abit of a mid life crisis..

You get up to the runs on this furnicular train that runs all year round for visitors..

Ready to hurtle up the hill..

Top of the hill looking west..

Looking over to the mountains around the Great Glen including Ben nevis

Loch Morlich

lets see what’s on the menu….
