After many long months the brown trout season has finally started.
After a short while a few mayflies start hatching and the fish take interest. I started casting with a large dark olive. Soon had a nice little bend on the rod…
A very scrappy little blighter, they use the strong current.
They are usually a bit thin this early in the season, but fatten up quickly with the sushi boat stream of tasty flies that begin to drift downstream and hatchout on the surface.
This one was carefully returned as an offering to the Tay river goddess.
The second one got eaten for tea with wild garlic… Happy days…..
